Case Study: Industrial, Product, and Lifestyle Photography for Verdes Cannabis

For several months in 2026, I had the privilege of working with Verdes Cannabis—an award winning legacy cannabis company headquartered in New Mexico with dispensaries in Albuquerque and Santa Fe—on a large-scale commercial photography project revamping their website and e-commerce platform. The project would span several months and involved everything from industrial photography of the company’s production and cultivation facilities and crew; lifestyle/portrait and architectural photography at each of their six dispensaries; and extensive product photography, including pack shots of hundreds of products across their entire catalogue along with conceptual still-life work adhering to their brand guidelines and colors. The images would be used across digital platforms and social media, along with printed assets for use in their stores and facilities.

A shoot this large required extensive preplanning: We scouted each location (9 locations total) over the course of two days and spent several days on creative direction for the product shoot. Phase one of the shoot (industrial, lifestyle, and architectural photography) took five full days of shooting in two cities, and phase two (product photography) took close to 15 full days of shooting. Postproduction took several weeks as well, as we handled all retouching in-house. I shot the entire project using 4 lenses (the “trinity” zooms and a 100mm macro lens), and nearly every photo required the use of at least 2 strobes along with a stripbox, reflectors, and a snoot, plus gels. I shot every photo tethered, with the help of assistants while shooting on location. All product shots were taken in our home studio.

Final delivery included several hundred fully edited images, ready for use online and in print. The client was very happy with the results, and I absolutely loved working on this project with Verdes, from start to finish.
