Case Study: Industrial Photography and Video for Bradbury Stamm Construction
In early 2026, Bradbury Stamm Construction—the largest general contractor in New Mexico—hired me for the entire year on retainer to produce industrial photography and video documenting construction projects across New Mexico and beyond. Projects have ranged from the University of New Mexico, the Georgia O’Keeffe Museum, the City of Santa Fe’s water treatment facility, multiple education projects in Hobbs, in-office shoots, and even the company retreat next to the beautiful Pecos River.
I’ve loved every second of shooting for Bradbury, as it combines a steady mix of documentary action photography, architectural-style work, portrait photography, drone work, and video. These full-day shoots allow me to get general coverage with plenty of time left over for creative work; my street photography instincts and experience are on full display here, and I think this results in work that stands out in this field.
My gear is very streamlined for these shoots. I bring the “trinity” zoom lenses, two cameras, a drone, one 250 watt strobe, and either a 3-ft umbrella or beauty dish for portraits. Yes, a beauty dish (or as Profoto calls it, a “soft light reflector”). I find this modifier to be perfect for industrial work. It creates a great mix of hard and soft light that nicely replicates sunlight, especially when adding a CTO gel. It’s super durable and small; no fear of ripping or breaking an expensive umbrella or soft box. The silver metal lining is extremely efficient, allowing me to save battery while using the higher powers required by high speed sync in the bright New Mexico sun. And it provides bomber protection for the expensive strobe itself, just in case a light stand falls over in the wind on a busy construction site (although I always use sandbags). Buy a cheap used model from a rental shop; mine is very beat up but still produces amazing results.
