Case Study: Lifestyle Photography and Video for New MExico Outdoor Recreation Division

In summer 2026, the State of New Mexico’s Outdoor Recreation Division (ORD) hired me to shoot professional lifestyle photography and video for a campaign highlighting Disability Awareness Month and promoting greater accessibility to the state’s amazing outdoor spaces. Working with ORD, we hired four athletes to participate in the shoot’s two phases: a sunrise session showing fishing and biking access, and a sunset session in the mountains showing running and mountain biking access. I scouted locations over the course of two days, prepared a detailed shot list, and directed the talent on shoot day, swapping between photo and video, including drone, for each scene with the help of my assistant, using a mix of strobe and natural light.

The shoot was a huge success and one of the most meaningful shoots I’ve had the honor of participating in; the athletes were so inspiring, as were the settings that we chose to shoot in. There assets have been used across multiple platforms, including website and social media. Thank you so much for the opportunity to be involved in this project, ORD!
